Auroville is a world community founded in 1968 in Tamil Nadu, South India. It aims to realize human unity through Self-understanding and environmentally sensitive practices. At present, the community has about 3000 members from more than 50 countries. The article explores the possibilities of Auroville while looking into certain inner contradictions, exacerbated recently by invasive actions of Indian government and speculative capital.
